Fishing Field Trip

We all know Cruise does not like fishing, mostly because it's boring. Which is a valid reason. However, his class does a fishing field trip the first week of May where they go to a fishery in Salem and get to catch a fish, lunch is provided, and they have some good opportunities to practice social skills. So keep in mind, these kids don't actually fish. They can, but the people who volunteered for this, actually attached the fish onto the ends of the poles so each kid is guaranteed to catch one. I made Dave go and made him promise to 1) not tell Cruise about the already hooked fish and 2) at least pretend to have fun.

So Dave took the bus with Cruise all the way down to Salem with the rest of the class, they ate some lunch, and then Cruise tried fishing but wasn't catching anything and was starting to get frustrated. So one of the volunteers asked if he had caught anything, with which Cruise responded with a disappointed "no". "Well, you should try my special fishing pole. It's a lucky fishing pole. I always catch something with this one," said the volunteer. Cruise grabbed the pole and immediately felt the pull of the fish at the end. He was so excited and even went to hand it back to the volunteer stating that it was his pole and hence the fish belonged to him, but the volunteer assured him that it was Cruise's fish. So Cruise reeled it in and was so excited about this lucky fish that he had to keep it, despite it being tiny. So...it's still in our freezer.
Cruise really had a great time and Dave enjoyed just being with Cruise (even though it really wasn't fishing, lol!).
