At graduation, Cruise's teacher Mr. Harris had prepared a statement about each child as he presented each one of them with their diplomas. This was Cruise's:
Cruise,
Where to start with you kiddo...We love your enthusiasm for life- For you, everything is important, and potentially life-changing! We love your expressive eyes- and brows, the the way you can explain anything this is on your mind. We love your passion for learning, and for sharing all you have learned. Thank you for all of the incredible show-and-tells you have brought to us. "Behold!" will forever be a part of our classroom vocabulary because of you! Thank you for learning to be kind to others in our class- Kids crave your friendship!
We are so excited to watch you grow and become everything you want to become! We love you!
John Jay Harris, Suzanne Jones, Karli Poyfair, Connie Haws
Cruise has grown so much this past school year. He is catching up with his peers academically, he's learning how to not be so rigid, and he is learning how to make new friends. Despite all of his frustrations and struggling, he continues to keep trying. He continues to make inventions and think of new things or new ways to do things, despite the fact that "no one believes in my inventions!"
I actually had a conversation with his bus driver on the last day of school and she told me that he had told her that he was like Noah and the ark because no one would listen to him or believe him. But he still built a boat! Ha ha! I thought that was pretty cute.
Congratulations Cruise! You're on to 3rd grade!
